Return to Stage 1 Water Retrictions
September 14, 2026
The City of Corpus Christi has moved from Stage 2 to Stage 1 water restrictions, effective immediately.
Recent rainfall in the Nueces and Frio watersheds has improved conditions at Lake Corpus Christi and Choke Canon Reservoir. According to Corpus Christi Water (CCW), the combined capacity of the Western Reservoirs increased to 42.2% as of August 26, 2026.
Under Stage 1, CCW has advised that:
- Lawn watering is permitted once weekly, before 10:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m., using hose-end sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems.
- Foundation watering is permitted once weekly on assigned days.
- Vehicle washing is permitted any day using a bucket or a handheld hose equipped with an automatic shutoff nozzle.
- Golf courses may water greens, tees, and fairways once weekly on assigned days, subject to applicable provisions.
While the improved reservoir levels are welcome news, continued conservation remains important. CCW has indicated that it will continue monitoring reservoir levels and long-term water supply conditions.
We encourage all customers to continue using water responsibly and to make conservation part of their everyday routine.
We appreciate all cooperation and continued commitment to protecting our region's water supply.
